Winter is governed by the element of Water. Yielding, flowing, steady and powerful are words which describe the nature of water. In five elements theory water is considered the foundations of all other elements. Water is the beginning, end and storage components of the seasonal cycles. During winter a seed lies dormant representing the end of the living cycle yet the work that is undertaken as the seed lies concentrating / storing all its energy on remaining in this state of dormancy ready for new beginnings in spring.
The kidney meridian and urinary bladder meridian are representative of the water element in Chinese meridian theory. Over the next couple of weeks I will post some regular articles around the Water Element and its relevant meridians and qualities.
