Benefits of Movement
In an age of technological advanced we are moving less. Many of us work in front of a computer, sit or stand for long periods of time in one position and very infrequently partake in physical activity. There is growing evidence to show that we are leading a more sedentary lifestyle and that this lack of movement is contributing to an increase in health problems. Movement is crucial for good health. The physical benefits of partaking in movement based exercises include:
YOGA Yoga can literally mean “to yoke”. Yoga brings together a mind-body connection. It works on posture, it allows you to develop flexibility, it allows you to move. When we physically come together our mind will want to follow. Eventually they both come together. This is the why yoga is used as the movement therapy of choice at Mindful Living Matters. The ability to work both body and mind in various degrees of intensity makes yoga the perfect tool for everyBODY. Different classes will suit different levels of fitness and physical make up including age, weight and gender. No matter what class you attend you can guarantee that yoga gives us a gift of the present. Through pranayama (breath) and asana (yoga postures) you will connect with your physical body and tune into what it is telling you about your emotional body. When we are stressed, anxious or upset we tend to carry it through the way we move and hold ourselves. Yoga can assist us to pick up the subtle changes in our body as a result of our emotional state. Yoga provides physical activity that is healthy. As our personal yoga practice develops we begin to accept and let go of what no longer serves us. We learn to release tension, build strength and gain flexibility. You will find your habits begin to change and you start to live a life that is more in balance, a life of happiness, health and harmony. Yoga classes are available for adults, children of all ages, teenagers pregnancy and seniors. Baby classes will be available in the near future. Movement and Meditation workshops are offered throughout the year. What our clients say...
Hi my name is Chrissy, I'm 70 years old so come with a range of physical & medical problems that need ongoing care to keep me moving on a day to day basis.
I moved to this area mid 2016 and have been having regular fortnightly Shiatsu massage treatments with Deb.
Before moving here I had been having TCM (Traditional Chinese Massage) fortnightly for about the last 10 years, so was very pleased to find Deb who follows the Oriental Remedial Therapies, including cupping & moxibustion. These are very gentle applications that relieve very painful areas to prepare them for the following massage that will deal with meridian points & organs, muscular soreness & so in this manner maintains your body's wellbeing.
I feel that regular massage is very important, especially for older people, as it helps to maintain your muscle which in turn supports your bones.
Deb is a very caring, professional Therapist who is continually studying & reviewing how to provide the very best treatment to offer her clients the highest standard of care. I recommend her highly.
