Gentle Massage and Movement for Seniors
No doubt you have found this page because you are one of many people who are aware that our aging population is becoming more health conscious or are aware of some of the benefits of massage for all stages of life. Massage and Touch therapy is becoming an important addition to the health and well being of our seniors.
Studies have shown the benefits of massage can reduce pain and anxiety, promote a state of deep relaxation and support those who are grieving the loss of a loved one. Shiatsu is proven to help those with limited mobility or who are bedridden, have Alzheimers or Dementia and can ease the dying process.
Shiatsu is easily adapted to suit the needs of older people. Traditionally practiced on a low bed or futon on the floor, Shiatsu can be modified to be practiced on a regular massage table for those with limited mobility. Shiatsu can even be applied to those people who are confined to a bed or wheelchair. For those with difficulty in transport to our practice we will happily visit you in your place of residence. We would also like to talk to facilities that cater for our infirmed or less agile seniors.
Gentle movement exercises or chair yoga can be included as part of a holistic treatment plan.
Currently Mindful Living Matters holds private consultations for seniors and group Slow and Gentle yoga classes suitable for clients with limited mobility. View our timetable for times these classes are held. Contact us for an appointment for a private consultation or to discuss us visiting your residence.

What Our Clients Say...
My husband and I are in our 70’s and have been taking part in Yoga classes with Deb for about 1 year now.
We do the Slow and Gentle class as we both carry injuries (mostly due to wear and tear of age) to our joints - hips knees and shoulders. We have found that movement and flexibility have greatly increased as has our energy levels, core strength and balance. This class is equally important as it allows us to socialise with like-minded people of varying age groups. It really is great fun. Thanks Deb. Cath and Mike, Petrie 2017 Slow and Gentle Yoga |
Thank you, Deb for a very pleasant morning with my sister Christine and your Slow & Gentle Yoga (particularly from my Ageless Beauties) morning group. The exercises you modified for me were a great help. I would recommend anyone who has limited movement to take your class I didn’t know I could as much as I did.
The pain between my shoulder blade went away so I am remembering to do that exercise when it plays up. Diana, Petrie 2017 Slow and Gentle Yoga |
