Long before Christianity, pagan cultures across the world celebrated the changing seasons and honoured the rhythms of nature. Among the most revered changing cycles was the moon, whose phases marked significant moments across many calendars. Symbolically, the lunar cycle mirrors themes of dying, renewal and rebirth adding to the narrative of the Easter story.
I wonder how many of you recognise the significance of the moon within that story of Easter. And how do you celebrate this holiday. From timeless acknowledgements of the cycle of life, to the honouring of a religious connection, Easter gives us an opportunity to pause and reflect on hope and renewal.
We are the keepers of our own knowing. Knowing what was, what is, and what is to be on this journey. Life is like the waxing and waning of the moon – a cycle that ebbs and flows, full of challenges and celebrations. It is part of the human experience to find acceptance in that and embrace each phase for what it is. This is where hope and renewal live. This is where we find true meaning.
Through the practice of Moon Yoga, we get to explore the external connection to the moon, the sun, the Earth and the seasons and how it affects our own inner cycles. We can acknowledge how each breath is a place of beginnings and ends. Learn the wisdom of the space between the breathes and align all that we are in that moment to what is present in that space.
Just as the moon plays a significant role in marking the Easter story, I would like to invite you to embrace the significance that the moon plays in deepening you connection to your own story of wisdom and allow that connection to support you in the journey through your life cycles.
