Ki Therapy
Kiatsu is a massage technique developed by Koichi Tohei during his time served in the Japanese Army during World War 2. Many Aikidoka are taught Ki principles as part of there Aikido training and under the tutelage of a great Sensei have learned the art of Kiatsu. Deborah, director of Mindful Living has trained in the art of Aikido for 10 years under Tony Deckers Sensei. During this time she learned the principles of Kiatsu. All formal qualifications in Kiatsu must be attained in Japan therefore Deborah has chosen to develop her own techniques using this beneficial healing modality, her knowledge of reiki, massage and shiatsu.

Reiki
It has been said that Mikao Usui, founder of Reiki and Morihei Ueshiba, founder of Aikido were friends, therefore it is not surprising that they share similar principles. Reiki is a technique that uses Ki, universal energy to heal and relax the body. It can be done as either a radial (above) healing or a "hands-on-healing" (physical contact). Combining the principles of Reiki, Massage, Ki therapy and Shiatsu, Deborah is able to provide Mindful Living clients with a treatment that leaves them feeling relaxed, balanced and centred.

Shiatsu
When dis-ease occurs in our body, traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) tells us that there is a disharmony between the Qi, yin and yang, our bodies and our environment. In order to treat the dis-ease a TCM practitioner will work with Qi and the bodies meridians (energy lines). One way to assist the flow of Qi and open meridians is through Shiatsu. Traditional Shiatsu is performed lying on a futon or mat on the ground, with clients fully clothed. Shiatsu works on pressure points and uses particular massage techniques. At Mindful Living we can refer you to qualified Shiatsu therapists or you can speak to us about working with a student therapist.

With psychosomatic analysis, chakra and yoga therapy we learn more about our inner qualities. Talk to one of our instructors about having a personalised analysis with therapy recommendations to initiate change specific for your needs.
